Walking home, Kotoko once again spots the little girl peering into the house from behind the gate. Kotoko makes her way to the girl, tapping her on the shoulder. Both girls are startled. Kotoko recognises her uniform; Tonan Middle School (Yuki's school). Kotoko stops the girl from running by asking whether she likes Yuki. The little girl stands idly looking at the floor, batting her eyelashes.

The two relocate to the nearby park. Kotoko discovers the at the little girl is from F Class. She reveals she is bad at studying but wants to do well so she can advance to A Class (Yuki's class). Kotoko nods understandingly, exclaiming that they are the same.

The conversation shifts to how Kotoko managed to marry Naoki, having heard that he is a genius that dislikes girls. Kotoko puts it down to persistance. We finally learn her name, Sagawa Konomi. Kotoko asks what Konomi likes about Yuki. She loves how smart he is/his cold eyes/good looking face/his height not so much but he will grow.

Kotoko doesn't quite see the image Konomi is painting. Kotoko asks whether Konomi has ever approached Yuki before; she hasn't talked to him yet. Konomi describes the distance between A Class and F Class is like a desert.. Kotoko puts a firm reassuring hand on Konomi's shoulder. With tears forming, Kotoko says she understands the situation.

Kotoko vows to help her win over Yuki.

Kotoko now hovers over Yuki. Asking him whether he knows a Konomi, introducing her as a friend of a friend's niece. Yuki doesn't recall the name as he doesn't know any girls outside the ones in his class. Kotoko asks whether he has a girl he likes, out of ears length, he says having known her has made him lose interest in girls even more. Kotoko assumes he doesn't have a girl he likes.

Kotoko texts this information to Konomi.

At the dining room, Kotoko shows a picture of Satomi's new born to the family. Kotoko's father gets teary, having known Satomi and Jinko for such a long time; they are like daughters to him. Naoki's mother wonders how he will be when Kotoko has a baby, more tears well up as he reminisce about Kotoko as a baby.

Naoki asks what Kotoko was like as a baby; she cried and screamed all day. Etsuko (her mother) and her father were at a lost at first. Then all of a sudden Kotoko was silent, the two thought the worst... She was only sleeping LOL. Naoki notes that she is no different now.

Naoki recalls having never seen Kotoko's baby pictures, Kotoko reminds him of her house being burnt down. He also recalls that he doesn't know anything about Kotoko's mother either. Kotoko mentions that her mother was Miss Akita Komachi?

Naoki adds that he wants to join Kotoko and her father to her mother's grave this year. The two start getting panicky, calling the place remote/that he has studying to do/but they are grateful for his consideration/don't force yourself.

The faces' of father and daughter scrunch up as they both look towards each other in fear??

It is strong downfall on the day of Mrs Aihara's death anniversary. Kotoko's father suggest just visiting the grave then heading home this year, then next year they can go to their old home. As it might be rude to pay a visit soaking wet. Naoki gets the vibe that they are trying to hide something from him. Kotoko's father gives up, saying that Naoki will know when he gets there.

The rain eventually stops. The village greets the three with colourful banners and signs. Greeting Naoki officially is Kotoko's uncle; her mother's older brother, Tsuruzo. Tsuruzo takes Naoki by the wrist and whisks him away as Kotoko and her father look on in fear.

Naoki accepts a bouquet from Miss Kumashiro. The towns people clap excitedly. Naoki is asked to come onto the small stage to say a few words. He thanks everyone for their hospitality before adding that the town misspelt his name. That's not all, he adds that "welcome" is also misspelt. Wait that not all, a stroke is an extra stroke the second character of "welcome".

Kotoko gets praised for having such an intelligent husband. Tsuruzo disallows the three to just go home after visiting the grave, claiming that Ecchan will come out as "mokko (a ghost)".

The three are squeezed into a van as Tsuruzo takes them to their old house. The three chat in the van, Naoki asks whether Kotoko's father experienced this type of welcome. Indeed he has and that's why he usually visits the grave without telling anyone. Kotoko's father takes Naoki's hand and calls themselves comrades; having shared the same experience. Naoki is reluctant to share this feeling.

At their dinner party, Kotoko is reminded of her forgetfulness when she incorrectly remembers a girl's name. Tsuruzo calls her out for this, Kotoko retorts that he was the one to bring a random child home; having mistaken the child as his own.

Three kids enter the party, one asking for Naoki's autograph as the little boy holds the poster of the game Naoki created. Now cue the senior club's entry, three elder women come in complementing Naoki/stroking his shoulder/grasping his hands. Naturally, Kotoko is pushed out of the way.

After the party, the family take a look at Mrs Aihara's photo album. She is the splitting image of Kotoko. Her mother was just as clumsy as she is, all the photos are very derpy. There is one where she has seaweed on her face and Naoki mistakes it for a mole. Other photos are of her unathletic self.

Another where she is being punished at school (mopping floors) or rather she is belting out a tune on a table. Naoki laughs at this.

Naoki has another good laugh when they discover that Kotoko's mother wasn't Miss Akita Komachi (Akita Beauty) but rather Miss Tonburi (a type of seed). Kotoko's vision of her mother is shattered, having thought she was intelligent... Tsuruzo tells her that her mother was restless and her grades were the lowest in the grade/her athletic ability sucked.

Tsuruzo retells a story of her mother liking a boy in the neighbouring village so much so that she almost froze to death waiting for him. By the time he found her she was half buried in snow. Naoki continues to laugh. Kotoko is surprised having never seen him laugh so much before.

Kotoko gets up aggrevated and dismisses herself for bed.

Kotoko rolls over in bed and wakes up, Naoki is missing. She finds him with her father, Kotoko watches on. The two are discussing how her father met his wife. He recalls seeing a woman collapse suddenly, he rushed to her side, finding out she hadn't eaten for three days.

Her father made a meal for her. She was the first person who appreciated the food he cooked. Since that time, she started coming to his restaurant every day (ordering the cheapest meal - eating his food happily). Before he knew it he fell for her. He asks for Naoki to keep this secret to Kotoko; feeling slightly embarrassed.

Kotoko heads back to bed, extending her arm to the ceiling, calling for her mother. Kotoko wonders whether she had slept like this, looking up at the ceiling. Kotoko is happy now knowing more about her mother. Kotoko is surprised at the consideration Naoki has shown towards her mother, having never talked about her with him. With this thought she falls asleep.

Naoki reenters their bedroom, adjusting the blanket for Kotoko. He gently pats her arm, she smiles.

The next morning, Naoki helps the kids with their homework; explaining sayings/maths equations/English sentence formations etc.

One of the kids asks for Naoki to join her in picking flowers, he agrees. All the other kids chime in to ask him to play with them. Tsuruzo appears at the door with him are a few elderly towns people, he asks for Naoki to take a look at them.

And so they are late to the grave (practically the whole village followed them). Kotoko is upset as this is the first time that Naoki will be meeting her mother yet he is being hindered by all the towns people. The towns people understand where Kotoko is coming from; having been carried away with happiness having met Naoki, they apologise and turn around to head back into town.

Naoki approaches Kotoko, telling her of how enthusiastic, carefree and kind this town's people are; they are like her. That's why he is having fun and is never bored. He suggests that Kotoko call them back and they should all go to the grave. She agrees.

On their way, they come across a large sign, pointing towards Mrs Aihara's grave. The tombstone is just as flamboyantly decorated as the welcoming sign. The decorations are for Naoki; so he can easily identify the tombstone... Naoki thanks the town for the gesture. The decorations are removed before they pay their respects.

Kotoko's father introduces Naoki to his wife. Asking for her to not get too excited with this good looking man who is too good for Kotoko.

Naoki prays infront of the tombstone. Kotoko later asks what he wished for; it's a secret between your mother and I. As everyone walks back to town we hear Kotoko's mother asking for Naoki to talk good care of Kotoko.
