Itazura na Kiss 2: Love in Tokyo Episode 14 Recap

After dropping the surgical instruments on the ground, Naoki asks for Kotoko to stand up. He walks over to head butt her. Kotoko asks whether he isn't scared. Naoki says it's a given but reassures her that he has studied for many years and has confidence. Stating that he is probably even better than Dr Nishigaki, calling the patient lucky. He affirms to Kotoko that he will save the patient, she just has to follow his instructions, starting with washing her hands and getting new set of surgical instruments.

Chief assistant Shimizu enters the room asking what Naoki is doing, asking whether he has received permission from Dr Nishigaki. Naoki states the patient's sudden condition change and the need to act now. Kotoko continues to listen to Naoki's instructions despite Shimizu's disapproval. Shimizu takes a closer look at the patient and their vitals, volunteering to be the circulating nurse.

The operation goes smoothly with Kotoko clear headed and handing the correct instruments without hesitation, Shimizu monitoring the patient and Naoki seamlessly performing the surgery.

The next morning, Kotoko once again congratulates Naoki for performing a surgery that saved a patient. Kotoko turns her back to say that if it wasn't for Naoki's head butt she would have escaped that room... Naoki gives her a back hug, admitting that he was really scared as well. He had to pretend to be confident because Kotoko's mind was at a blank. Kotoko tells Naoki that it is great that he became a doctor. He says she is right before kissing her.

At the meeting room, the doctors are infuriated that an intern has performed surgery (with Naoki present). Although the doctors admit that Naoki is an outstanding intern, it is coincidental that the surgery went well. If anything had gone wrong, the situation wouldn't be settled merely by someone taking responsibility. Dr Daijamori tries to push the blame onto Dr Nishigaki.

Naoki finally speaks up to ask what exactly the problem is. Stating that he only became a doctor to help patients. Dr Nishigaki tries to shush him. Naoki continues to say that rules don't matter if he achieves his goal; saving a patient. The doctors display shock. Naoki once again justifies his actions. Oh forgot to mention, Kotoko has been ears dropping for the majority of the meeting.

Naoki asks for the doctors to not beat around the bush and just give him his punishment. One of the doctors calls him arrogant... Kotoko enters the room to say that Naoki is an outstanding doctor... She continues to vouch for him. Shimizu enters the room to reprimand Kotoko but also adds that she herself was assisting with the surgery and out of experience, Naoki had performed an amazingly during the surgery, one beyond the expectations of an intern. The two leave in a hurry.

One doctor has remained silent the whole time, he now speaks up to ask what Dr Nishigaki's opinion is. Dr Nishigaki agrees that Naoki's actions were reckless, assessing the patient it is likely to be true that Naoki did save their life but he himself wouldn't have done such a thing if he were an intern...

All the doctors' eyes revert back to the one doctor. He says to leave the matter as is, despite Naoki being young he applauds him for his ability for judgement. He asks that Dr Nishigaki submit a letter of apology; to take responsibility as Naoki's mentor.

The doctors take their leave whilst Dr Nishigaki and Naoki bow their heads down. Once gone, Dr Nishigaki complains of having such an arrogant intern. Naoki volunteers to write the letter of apology... he half agrees before saying he will do it himself as he will get in trouble. Naoki just laughs.

Kotoko and Yuki are out shopping for groceries when Yuki suddenly halts. Kotoko bumps into him, noticing that Konomi is not far from the two she begins to call out her name but is hushed by Yuki. The two watch on as a boy from another high school is confessing his feelings toward Konomi with his friend as his wingman. They ask whether Konomi has a boyfriend. She replies that she doesn't then kindly declines to start a relationship before running off. Yuki doesn't look too happy, he rushes home.

The next day, Kotoko is learning how to knit from Naoki's mother. Not very successfully though. The door rings, it's Konomi whose come for another knitting lesson.

Yuki shortly comes through the door. Konomi says hi and apologises for always coming over. Kotoko hints that she comes over to see Yuki's face. Yuki asks why she does something a girlfriend would do, even though she isn't... Konomi apologises for getting ahead of herself, that it must be awkward for Yuki, she apologises once again before running out the door bumping into Naoki before running off again.

Naoki asks why Konomi was crying just then. In unison, Kotoko and Naoki's mother say "I knew it" to Yuki. Later that night, Naoki gets a knock on his door, Yuki asks for a minute. Yuki rambles before asking what Naoki ended up liking about Kotoko. Naoki says it all started when Kotoko would not stop saying "I like you", it became like an incantation and when she said that she would stop, he remembered feeling annoyed... he might have gotten addicted to that.

Yuki admits to being confused by the feelings towards Konomi. Yuki recalls that he got mad when he saw a boy confessing his feelings for Konomi leading to him saying some horrible things to Konomi unintentionally. Naoki giggles, saying that they truly are siblings. Naoki suggests to ask Konomi, it is the simpliest solution. Another piece of advice he passes down, learnt from Kin, is this so called feeling is called jealousy.

After school, Yuki apologises to Konomi. Mentioning the confession boy... Konomi asks how he knows of this, Yuki answers that he happened to pass by and over heard. Konomi tells Yuki that her feelings have always been the same since middle school, she has continued to like him but if he doesn't like her back then she can't exactly call Yuki her boyfriend. She states that she is fine with a one sided love... but she does admire mutual love.

To break the silence she hands him the blue scarf she knitted for Yuki for Valentine's Day. She wraps the scarf around his neck as Yuki remains silent.

Before removing her hands from the scarf, Yuki holds onto her wrist before giving Konomi a kiss. He suddenly flings her wrist from his grasp and calls it an accident. Konomi asks whether the kiss was an accident, Yuki clarifies that it wasn't, he kissed her because he likes her. Confirming with her that if another guy ever asks if she has a boyfriend she has to say she does.

Konomi tries to get another "I like you" out of Yuki's mouth but is unsuccessful. Konomi thanks him and they both smile.

That night, Kotoko tries to nonchalantly bribe Naoki with her coffee for a nursing care plan. Kotoko is ready to even settle for essential key points. Naoki seats himself, willing to help.

The next morning, Naoki is consulting/examining patients. As his shift ends for the morning, Hosoi notes that he looks very tired; lack of sleep. She also mentions that Kotoko has been working very hard lately. Praising her for her nursing care plan that she submitted.

In the hospital corridor, Kin is heard yelling mindlessly for Noaki to come out. Kin is carrying an injured Chris in his arms. Hosoi disapproves of the commotion caused by Kin. Naoki takes Chris in to bandage her burn wound; oil had been spilt on her legs in the kitchen.

Kotoko volunteers to wheel Chris to her hospital room. Hosoi refers to Kin as Chris's husband, she asks for him to come in to talk to Naoki.

Naoki continues the joke by calling him husband as he asks for Kin to take a seat. Naoki diagnoses that Chris received a second degree burn which went through the dermis and should remain hospitalised as the pain will likely persist. Scarring is definite; she might require plastic surgery for removal depending on the condition.

Kin is worried about the scarring as Chris is yet to marry, he is afraid of how to explain the scars to her future husband. Naoki queries Kin, as to having thought that Kin was to marry Chris, so there shouldn't be a problem. Kin is silent. Naoki then asks whether he was planning to give her away to someone else then. Kin retorts he won't. Naoki says that he should be saying this to Chris.

Kotoko helps Chris onto her hospital bed, Kotoko notes that this is the most flustered she has ever seen Kin; it must amount to how important Chris is to Kin. Speak of the devil, Kin comes rushing in to ask how Chris is doing. Chris asks whether it will leave a mark, Kin tells her not to worry, that if there is one he will beat up Naoki. Kin promises to visit everyday, reassuring that Chris is in safe hands as both Kotoko and Naoki will be around.

Kotoko has come to the end of her shift, she readies herself to leave, saying goodbye to the staff. On her way out of the nurses' office, Hosoi enquires about Naoki being tired; whether he is getting enough sleep since he has been performing large surgeries. Kotoko flashes back to Naoki helping her with her nursing care plan. Hosoi reminds Kotoko to also take good care of Naoki's nutrition and health.

Kotoko then thinks to herself that she hasn't been helping with housework, in addition to keeping Naoki up late to help her. At home, Kotoko prepares a feast for Naoki in bento form.

Kotoko runs excitedly back to the hospital with a big bento stack in hand. At the top of the stairs she spots Naoki, she rushes down the stairs, she slips on a step. Naoki catches her but they both crash to the floor.

Kotoko lands on top, she refocuses herself, asking if Naoki is ok. She gets no response, Naoki remains unconscious... She continues to franticly call his name, asking him to wake up.
