Itazura na Kiss 2: Love in Tokyo Episode 13 Recap

 

 We open to four months later, Kotoko is a nurse at Tonan University Hospital. 

 Kotoko pushes her cart into her patients' room. The patients say 'Yikes' as soon as she enters. Kotoko is ready to take blood samples from Harada-san and Kimura-san. The guy in the striped t-shirt warns the newly admitted patient (Harada), rather than explaining he just tells him to watch.

 First jab... fail... second jab... fail, Kotoko starts manoeuvring the needle to his vein whilst the needle is still injected into Kimura's arm. The patients watch and cringe with every movement. Kimura winces in pain as she tries over and over again until another nurse takes over. Harada makes a run when it's his turn.

 Kotoko chases after Harada with her tray of needles.

Kotoko is repremanded in the nurses' office by Chief Assitant Shimizu, Kotoko flees when she receives a patient call. After attending to her patient, Kotoko bumps into Motoki who works in the same department as her (the rest of the gang work at different departments). Kotoko complains of not being able to work with Naoki even after a year of working hard (no vacant positions at Kobe Hospital). Kotoko is in her sad lull before snapping back to her senses when Dr Nishigaki asks why she is upset.


 Motoki clearly smitten by the handsome doctor tattles on Kotoko's failure to draw blood and her puncturing many holes into the patient's arm. Dr Nishigaki pins Kotoko's shoulders against the wall and promises to make time to teach her how to properly inject needles next time. Kotoko declines... Dr Nishigaki then suggests they go on a date instead. Kotoko reminds him she is married... Dr Nishigaki feels defeated, he notes that he heard her husband is quite the capable intern. Dr Nishigaki continues to flirt as Kotoko grows more uncomfortable.

 Another nurse appears in the nick of time, asking Dr Nishigaki for lunch, he agrees. So he is like this with all female nurses, he notes the nurse's change of hairstyle. The two walk off with his arm around her shoulder.
 

 As Motoki and Kotoko continue their conversation, Kotoko is reminded that she was suppose to tend to Dr Daijamori's patient at 11:00am it is now 11:15am. Kotoko runs, knowing that even if she is a minute late she will be scolded.

 In the nurses' office, Kotoko is now scolded by Hosoi, she lists the doctors and patients who have complained about Kotoko. Hosoi urges Kotoko to not remain this way, she may cause trouble to Naoki. Kotoko is unsettled.

At the Aihara Restaurant, Kotoko is sullen. Kin asks what is upsetting Kotoko, seeing that she has already become a nurse. Kin notes that he's long time dream was to be taken care of by Kotoko when he is sick, Chris bickers with Kin, saying she will nurse him.

 Kotoko is upset about being away from Naoki, additionally she is worried about the trouble she is causing to the doctors and patients. Kotoko is afraid of being a hinderance to Naoki. Right before Kotoko's father consoles her, Chris makes a fist and slams the table, telling Kotoko that she use to be her love role model. Chris asks what has happened to that Kotoko. The Kotoko she knew would not whine but would step over flowers and storms to get to Naoki.

 Kotoko is once again motivated.

Back at the hospital, Kotoko is on track. The other nurses are surprised by her change in attitude. Kotoko continues to attend to patients - wheeling them, drawing blood on the first try (she gets a round of applause from the patients watching) etc.

 Kotoko is greeted by good news when called into Hosoi's office; there is an opening at Kobe Hosipital. Kotoko will be transferred within a week. Kotoko relays the news to her patients, Kimura notes that he will live longer now that she is leaving but also admits that he will miss her cheerful voice when she is gone, the other patients agree.

Dr Nishigaki comes in to check on Harada's wound which is healing nicely, he asks for the disinfectant multiple times... Kotoko is in her own world thinking about Naoki. Another voice is heard asking for the disinfectant, Kotoko snaps back into reality and hands Dr Nishigaki the disinfectant before turning to see Naoki by the door.
 

 Naoki has transferred to Tonan University Hospital. Kotoko hugs Naoki as we flashback to the moment she told Naoki she wanted to work beside him; to become a nurse. Naoki reminds Kotoko that they are at the hospital.

 Kimura asks Kotoko about transferring to Kobe... Naoki notes how unfortunate they are, wishing her luck working at Kobe. Naoki continues helping Dr Nishigaki with Harada's wound. Kotoko runs/screams in the hallway for Hosoi to cancel her transfer.

Later that night, Naoki returns home to an empty house. He heads into the living room to turn on the lights... he gets streamers popped at him (a poster is on the wall congratulating that wife and husband are living together again + Konomi is there!).

 The parents leave the living room... Yuki greets his brother now 4 inches taller (and played by an older actor). Kotoko says it is a relief that he is taller than Konomi (also played by an older actress) now, the two cutely bicker.

Konomi greets Naoki as Yuki and Kotoko bicker. Naoki asks how her studies are going; she is still not very good at studying. He also asks how Yuki and her are; Yuki helps her study and they go out for movies. Naoki smiles about this.. LOL. Yuki catches Naoki's smile, asking Konomi what she told his brother.

 Kin and Chris also join the festivities.

 At the dinner table, Kin nudges Yuki, that he is already at that age (to have a girlfriend). Naoki is outside looking at the stars, Kotoko joins. Naoki says he hasn't been in a riotous gathering in a year. Kotoko reminds him that everyone is excited of his return; his mother, father, her father even Kin. Kotoko also says she is happy about being able to work in the hospital together with Naoki, Naoki kisses her on the cheek. Telling Kotoko that this boisterousness has made him realise he is finally home. The two kiss again.

Nurses and patients stare at Naoki as he walks through the ward. Kotoko pushes her cart reminding Naoki of his schedule as well as awwing over his doctor's coat.

 Dr Nishigaki (now Naoki's mentor) joins the two as they walk, saying he underestimated Naoki. Dr Nishigaki complains of how an intern is more popular than his mentor. Dr Nishigaki starts quizzing Naoki on a patient, asking for their status and the correct procedures etc. Naoki answers correctly, Dr Nishigaki admits to Naoki having no flaws, he then says Naoki is no fun. So... 

 He grabs Kotoko by the shoulder to say that Naoki would cheat on her in a heartbeat... that she should break up with him now before it happens and go out with him instead.

Before Dr Nishigaki moves his head anymore closer to Kotoko, Naoki uses his folder as a divider.

 At the nurses' office, Kotoko is assigned to assist with a surgery. She is assigned to assist Dr Daijamori, who calls her the troublemaker. Kotoko hands the doctor a scalpel, then gets a cold sweat. She is then instructed to pass the gauze, which she uses to wipe her face... She then scrambles to find the pean... when she does she accidentally stabs the doctor in the hand when passing it to him.

 Hosoi is disappointed that Kotoko wasn't able to complete a simple task. Saying that she has misjudged her.

 Kotoko and Naoki both have a night shift, the two have a cup of coffee. Kotoko tells Naoki that she is thinking of transferring to a different department. Before Naoki gets an emergency call; three people where in a car accident and are arriving shortly having been rejected by other hospitals.

  

 The first patient is in a stable condition. Suddenly the patient's blood pressure drops. Naoki diagnoses that a blood vessel in his thigh may have ruptured. Kotoko makes a phone call to Dr Nishigaki but he is unable to come as he is in surgery asking for them to wait. Naoki says it will become more dangerous if they wait longer. He decides to suture the blood vessel. After convincing, Kotoko agrees to be Naoki's assistant.

 When asking for the mosquito clamp, Kotoko blanks, struggling to find the correct instrument. She pulls on the cloth underneath the surgical instruments, every instrument clashes onto the floor. Kotoko is frazzled as she is on her knees.
