Naoki and Kotoko arrive back in Tokyo. At the airport they are greeted by Naoki's father's assistant, Kanamori and the two are taken to an unknown large two-storey house. The end... the credits rolled and a preview was shown.
Now let's start with the recap of episode 2!
As the two approach the house, sombre music starts playing. Naoki opens the front door, they are welcomed by the family. Naoki's mother asks Kotoko about the honeymoon, Naoki remarks I hope you enjoyed the honeymoon - his mother feigns ignorance. It turns out this is their new home - his mother wanted to build a house to accommodate babies.
Up on the wall is a picture of Naoki and Kotoko kissing. Kotoko realises that the kiss was in Okinawa, still oblivious, Irie clues her in on the whole family being there with them. She finally recalls all those faces that looked oh so familiar. Naoki demands for the picture to be taken down - the idea is shut down by his mother.
His mother gives a house tour: the living room, kitchen, Naoki and Kotoko's room, the BABY's room. The opening sequence rolls and we open back to the next morning as Kotoko awakes from her alarm. She admires Naoki's sleeping face and decides to make the perfect breakfast for her perfect husband. She imagines the perfect breakfast as well as sending Naoki off to work, she wakes up once again having fallen asleep. Naoki is not in bed anymore.
Kotoko heads down to the kitchen. Naoki's mother hints that it is okay to sleep in after a honeymoon... because you will be tired after doing a certain something. Naoki is set to leave the house when Kotoko rushes to send him off. He jokes about being excited about her making breakfast since the alarm went off so early in the morning.
Naoki's mother reminds Naoki to submit the marriage registration forms. His mother has prepared MULTIPLE copies of the form. Naoki informs the two that he doesn't plan to register the marriage yet. He wants time to think it over.
At university, Kotoko is dazed at the tennis club. Sudo (Kaji Masaki) congratulates her for no longer being Aihara Kotoko. She confesses to still be an "Aihara". She reveals that Naoki doesn't want to sign the papers yet. She takes out her fustration by grabbing Sudo's jacket and jerking him back and forth. Matsumoto Yuko (Mori Kanna) over hears and laughs about the matter and is less than supportive. Sudo runs after Yuko as she leaves.
At work, Naoki is visited by the anime club. The group pitch their idea to Naoki, having made a game. At first Naoki is less than impressed but opens up to the idea. Meanwhile, now night time, Kotoko waits by the phone. Naoki calls to say he isn't coming home tonight, stating he won't be home for a while. He doesn't come home for the next few days.
Kotoko ends up hugging and staring at his pyjamas. She starts cutting into his pyjamas, stays up all night to sew an egg toy?? LOL it's suppose to be Naoki... my bad.
The next morning she heads to the company. She arrives at the guard's quarter (a concierge but not really), before he calls to notify Naoki of her arrival, she hesitates when he asks for her name. She settles for Kotoko rather than saying his wife. As she pouts, she drifts into her imagination; Naoki thanking her for bringing a bento then offering her a hug, calling her the best wife and immediately agreeing to sign the marriage registration papers. Her bubble is popped when the guard says that Naoki won't meet her right now. She leaves the bento with the guard to give to Naoki.
Back at university, Kotoko meets up with her friends. It has been 2 weeks since Naoki has come home. Ikezawa Kinnosuke (Yamada Yuki), Kin for short, over hears the girls' conversation and wants to give Naoki a piece of his mind.
Kin arrives at the company. He starts yelling out Naoki's name like a crazy as he searches for him. Naoki comes out of his office, Kin grabs him by the tie. Kin having given up on Kotoko because he knew she was happy, is now fired up at Naoki as he hasn't signed the papers, hasn't come home and is ignoring Kotoko. Kotoko arrives to see the two but hides. Kin throws a punch which Naoki stops. Naoki states it's a problem between Kotoko and himself.
The guards come running in to take Kin away. Kotoko comes out from her hiding spot and says that Kin isn't in the wrong but Naoki is; not treating her as his wife. Naoki suggests that the two break up then, luckily we didn't sign the papers yet. In tears, Kotoko runs, Kin follows her.
Kotoko is now in her father's sushi restaurant with her two friends. Her father gives her advice; rather than thinking about yourself, think a bit more about Naoki. Kin over hears this. Kin butts in to say it is Naoki's fault, Kotoko's father says it a problem between the two of them. Her father asks for her to trust/believe in Naoki, he must have his reasons. Kotoko continues to think over her father's words into the next day at the tennis club.
Naoki arrives on campus. He takes Kotoko to a press conference, asking her to wait a bit as he makes his speech. Naoki's dad is there as well, he informs Kotoko that Naoki produced an upcoming online game. A game that would usually take a year to produce he did in a few weeks with only a few people. The rest of the anime club watch the live conference.
The new online game is called "Racket Warrior, Kotorin". The MC of the conference reveals that Kotorin is Kotoko. Kotoko's friends and Kin watch in on the conference too. Kotoko is called onto the stage, Naoki introduces her as his partner, Irie Kotoko.
Kotoko introduces herself to the press by her first name, calling herself Naoki's intelligent wife... Naoki rolls his eyes at the weird introduction but tells her it's been a while (since they have seen each other). She holds back tears. The conference ends with Kotoko posing with her racket, Naoki's father looking on proudly, the 3 anime club members doing a dance? and Naoki smiling softly at Kotoko.
Kotoko introduces the toy she made to Naoki when he asks where his old pyjamas are. Naoki reveals he quit his job today and is planning on returning to university next month. He thanks her for the bento. They kiss and hug (awww so sweet). He passes out during their hug, she tells him that he has worked hard.
ONE MONTH LATER
Yuki (Naoki's younger brother) runs in with the newspaper - the game made it to the newspaper - it was a big hit. Kotoko and Naoki's mother are excited at the news.
Before the two head off to university, Naoki makes a detour, to the District Government Office. They finally sign their marriage registration papers.
Naoki: I'm in your care, my wife.
And so Kotoko finally becomes IRIE Kotoko!
